York, SC – John J. King, 69, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023.
John was born on February 26, 1954, to the late Richard and Nova King in Columbus, Ohio. During his working career, he spent 30 years with Nationwide Insurance Company and most recently, the last 19 years with Commercial Works Inc. In his personal life, John was an avid camper, hunter, and fisherman. He would affectionately often be remembered saying, “It’s beer-30.” John will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife who he has been with for 23 years, Robin E. King; his children, Joseph King (Megan), John King, Russ Nichols (Lindsay), and Regan Nichols; his grandchildren, Rylan (Richard) Nichols, Bradey King, Bryden Wickle, and Aubrie King; his brother, Michael King (Kelley); his sister, Mary King; and his very special friend, Matt Campbell.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Nova King; his two sets grandparents, Lester and Edna Foster, and Fred and Marie King; and his best friend, Jeff Klien.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00PM and from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC. A funeral service for Mr. King will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 10:00AM, with burial following the service at Forest Hills Cemetery, 4290 Old York Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
