Rock Hill, SC – Ms. Dorothy Ann Barfield Rogers, 86, passed into the presence of the Lord on January 30, 2023.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, February 3, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 1571 South Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730 with Reverend Jason Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park – Cherry Road, 480 South Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC.
She was born August 19, 1936 in Kershaw, SC, the oldest daughter of the late Carl Barfield, Sr. and Maggie Mae Mackey Barfield. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Doris Jean Barfield Baker; a brother, John “Buck” Barfield.
She began working at the Celanese Corporation in 1956 in the Twisting Department and retired after 39 years. Ms. Rogers was a life-long, active member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church where she had served as Historian, assisted in the “Children of Grace” Sunday School Class and attended the Emma Bennett Bible Study group. She enjoyed helping the children with crafts during Vacation Bible School. A special treasure in the lives of so many, Dorothy faithfully loved and served her Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart, soul, mind and strength. The very love of God was characterized in the love she demonstrated in serving her family and friends in her life. Her humility and kindness will live on in precious memories. She was also a grandmother-figure to many. She also enjoyed gardening and traveled extensively after retirement.
Ms. Rogers is survived by her daughter, Deborah Kay Rogers Waldrop (Greg) of Rock Hill; a brother, Carl Barfield, Jr. (Martha), of Rock Hill; Two nieces, Pam Hay of Gastonia, NC and Christine Gray of Roanoke, VA; three grand-nephews, Brad Hay (Janet), and Michael Hay both of Gastonia, and Matthew Gray of Roanoke, VA.
